cimarron hills golf and country club + downtown georgetown engagement session // chelsea + john

I first met Chelsea back in 2000, when she was in elementary school. Wow does time fly!!
I was so excited when I found out she was getting married and that she wanted us to photograph her big day!
We started the engagement photo shoot out at Cimarron Hills Golf & Country Club and then ventured out into downtown Georgetown.
It was so fun to meet John and see how they are such a great fit for each other!

I loved the lace on Chelsea’s dress!

John is hilarious. I loved how much he made Chelsea laugh.

Of course, we had to get a shot of her beautiful ring.

On to the golf course!

The sunset was so beautiful!

Once it got dark, we got out the flashes and added some fun color.

And we ended at this super cute theatre!

How did you meet? (We already know this one, but in your own words!)

C: I met John while visiting my sister at Texas Tech Law.

J: Chelsea’s older sister is one of my best friends from law school and we met for the first time at her sister’s wedding. But the first time that we actually spent time together was when Chelsea came to visit Marissa out in Lubbock.

When was your first date? Where did you go? Did you hit it off right away?

C : Our first date was in Lubbock; John made me dinner at his apartment. When the oven was done pre-heating, he realized there was a pot in the oven and without thinking, took it out with his bare hands. We still laugh about the 400 degree pot he grabbed without an oven-mitt. Needless to say, the dinner was great and we went to the Blue Light after to see a country concert.

J : Out first date was out in Lubbock. I cooked dinner and then we went to see Bleu Edmondson in concert. There was an immediate connection; it was very easy to talk to her. On a side note, I knew she was pretty special when I mistakenly grabbed a pot out of a 400 degree oven with my bare hand and she was nice enough to doctor me up while keeping the laughing to a minimum.

What is one of your favorite memories together?

C : After John finished law school, he moved to Chicago to get his LLM at Northwestern University. I visited him once a month and every trip to Chicago was full of unforgettable memories, amazing food, and frequent exploration of the city:)

J : My favorite memories are the weekends we had in Chicago. I’d always plan fun things to do like go to museums and going to see The Blue Man Group, and it seemed like every meal we had was better than the one before. While that isn’t a specific memory, I’ll always think of Chicago as the place Chelsea and I fell in love.

What are some things y’all like to do together?

C : We love playing golf, going to concerts, traveling and spending time with family together.

J : We like golfing, cooking and enjoying good food together. We also enjoy experiencing the cultural parts of different cities such as art museums and concerts.

Tell us about the proposal.

C : John proposed on the top of Mount Bonnell in Austin, TX where we had our second date. He told me some really sweet things before he got down on one knee. Afterwards, we went to a vineyard in Dripping Springs where our families were waiting to celebrate the good news.

J : Our two sets of parents make fun of us for not being able to keep surprises from each other but this time I had actually succeeded. Chelsea had no idea the ring was bought and in my possession. I told her we were meeting her sister and her sister’s husband for dinner that night at a vineyard in Dripping Springs. On our way there, I made a slight detour to Mount Bonnell (where we went on one of our first dates). We went up the full flight of stairs until we reached the top. That’s where I told Chelsea that, according to legend, when a couple walks up the stairs at Mount Bonnell for the first time they’ll fall in love, and when they walk up the stairs for a second time they’ll get engaged and that’s when I got down on one knee and asked her to marry me.

What are you looking forward to most on your wedding day?

C : Being able to call John my husband and of course celebrating with family and friends.

J : Well because I’m not allowed to see it before hand, I am certainly looking forward to seeing Chelsea in her wedding dress. I am also excited about getting to see lots of friends and family and to celebrate our marriage.
